“Everything’s plastic, we’re all gonna die” says Elizabeth Wurtzel. I do not agree with the statement. Biodegradable plastic seems to show some light, however, they too come with certain disadvantages. When degraded, these emit harmful Co2 and...

It’s great to read about and see others interests in recycling and cleaning up the planet. Plastic bottles being thrown into landfills and littered are not good for the environment. As you mentioned there are solutions out there to help solve this issue. Later this month ENSO Bottles is coming out with a biodegradable plastic PET bottle which will biodegrade in anaerobic (landfill) and aerobic (composting) environment. The landfill gases that are created from anaerobic biodegradation is methane, this gas is used in the creation of clean energy. ENSO Bottles supports the development and building of bioreactor landfills which will facilitate the capture of biogases which can be used for producing energy; it’s a very interesting cycle.
The problem with oxo-degradable plastic is that all it does is degrade. Oxo-degradable plastic breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces until they are too small to see. The polymer (plastic) doesn’t go away it just gets to small to see.
